Here’s a randomly selected cipher type with a randomly selected plaintext and randomly selected key words.

My ID tests put the correct type in first or second place. My hill-climber solved it without a crib. I got two key words that were equivalent to the selected key words. I’ll include a caesar-shifted crib.

  1. I finally solved this. It continues DOLUPT. I needed the hint and the crib. My program identified the right type in second place but I was unable to make any progress before the hint was posted. Surprisingly, my Analyzer had correctly given me that hint information but I didn’t trust it. Even after that my hillclimber couldn’t solve it. I added the crib for scoring purposes and still could not solve it. I finally had to extend the crib to get a unique placement for it then program restrictions into my solver to fit the crib.
