Here’s a randomly generated cipher of unknown type. All my ID tests unanimously got the correct type. Hill-climber solved it without a crib. I’ll include a caesar-shifted crib.

Here’s a randomly generated cipher of unknown type. My ID tests looked weird but I recognized the weirdness as indicating a certain cipher type the tests didn’t include. I got the caesar-shifted plaintext and used it to generate a minimum crib. Using the crib I alternated between an interactive solver and a hill-climber to get the solution and the key. At one point I recognized the book the text came from and that allowed me to guess some unconventional words.

My Analyzer did not put the correct type in the top three, but I was able to guess the correct type. I solved it interactively. I’ll include a crib

My programs identified and solved this one without need for a crib, but I’ll provide one in Caesar form.

Here’s a randomly generated cipher of unknown type. My ID tests were unconvincing so I knew it was a type they didn’t cover, which made the type fairly obvious. I generated a crib by pasting the caesar-shifted plaintext into my minimum crib program using a new “caesar-shifted” option that gets the original plaintext, uses the original to generate possible cribs and outputs cribs in caesar-shifted form. Using a crib I solved the cipher by going back and forth between an interactive solver and a hill-climber.

Here’s a randomly generated cipher of unknown type. One of my ID tests put the correct type in fifth place, one put it in third place, and one put it unanimously in first place. I tried a hill-climber on the unanimous type and got the solution without a crib. I’ll include a caesar-shifted crib.

Short Sequence Transposition

My random cipher generator picked this short text to encipher as a Sequence Tramp. I’ll provide the primer. With the primer, it’s not difficult to get the plaintext but I was unable to identify the 1-word key. I eventually figured out why. Here’s the ciphertext. I’ll provide a Caesar crib.

Here’s a randomly generated cipher that is NOT a numbered key cipher. I guessed the type by a process of elimination. I knew it was not a numbered key because I haven’t generated a numbered key cipher with a long enough key to include a cipher symbol in the 90’s. I solved it using my interactive solver and my hill-climber. I needed the crib to solve it. The book it was taken from was not the one I originally guessed.
